Intermediate Symmetries in the Spontaneous Breaking of Supersymmetric SO

چکیده
We study the supersymmetric spontaneous symmetry breaking of SO(10) into SU (3)⊗ SU (2) ⊗ U (1) for the most physically interesting cases of SU (5) or flipped SU (5) ⊗ U (1) intermediate symmetries. The first case is more easily realized while the second one requires a fine-tuning condition on the parameters of the superpotential. This is because in the case of SU (5) symmetry there is at most one singlet of the residual symmetry in each SO(10) irreducible representation. We also point out on more general grounds in supersymmetric GUT's that some intermediate symmetries can be exactly realized and others can only be approximated by fine-tuning. In the first category, there could occur some tunneling between the vacua with exact and approximate intermediate symmetry. The flipped SU (5)⊗U (1) symmetry improves the unification of gauge couplings if (B −L) is broken by (B − L) = 1 scalars yielding right handed neutrino masses below 10 14 GeV.

Spontaneous Breaking of R-parity
So far most attention to the study of supersymmetric phenomenology has been made in the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) 1 with conserved R-parity . R-parity is a discrete symmetry assigned as Rp = (−1)(3B+L+2S), where L is the lepton number, B is the baryon number and S is the spin of the state. If R-parity is conserved all supersymmetric particles must always be p...
متن کاملGauge Symmmetry and Supersymmetry Breaking by Discrete Symmetry
We study the principles of the gauge symmetry and supersymmetry breaking due to the local or global discrete symmetries on the extra space manifold. We show that the gauge symmetry breaking by Wilson line is the special case of the discrete symmetry approach where all the discrete symmetries are global and act freely on the extra space manifold. As applications, we discuss the N = 2 supersymmet...
متن کاملLow energy supersymmetry with baryon and lepton number gauged
We investigate the spontaneous breaking of the Baryon (B) and Lepton (L) number at the TeV scale in supersymmetric models. A simple extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model where B and L are spontaneously broken local gauge symmetries is proposed. The B and L symmetry breaking scales are defined by the supersymmetry breaking scale. By gauging B and L, we understand the absence of ...
متن کاملAn Effective Lagra!vgi for Supersymmetric Qcd*
I present a Lagrangian which describes the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetries in strongly interacting supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with matter fields. This Lagrangian predicts that supersymmetry is spontaneously broken if the matter fields have precisely zero mass. متن کاملA Chiral Supersymmetric Standard Model
We propose a supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model with an extra U(1) gauge symmetry, so that all supersymmetric mass terms, including the μ-term, are forbidden by the gauge symmetries. Supersymmetry is broken dynamically which results in U(1) breaking and generation of realistic μ term and soft breaking masses. The additional fields required to cancel the U(1) anomalies are identified...
